Maureen Bolton paints primarily on canvas using oil paint with an emphasis on light, color saturation, and interesting edges. Her work has a sense of place with an intent of abstraction and minimalism while using light to wash away color and shapes. She tells stories through paint while communicating emotions and concepts about the beauty she sees in a moment or the sorrows and joys of living. She currently works in her studios located in Royal Oak and Empire, Michigan. Maureen is an award-winning artist whose paintings can be found from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles and Wisconsin to Florida. Her work can be found in galleries and online.

Maureen is a graduate of Northwestern University, spending over 30 years as a Neuro trained Speech and Language Pathologist specializing in traumatic brain injury before trading in her testing/therapy materials for a paint brush. She is the mother of three sons and grandmother of a growing family. Maureen and her husband, Wyman, farm apples, hay, and grapes together on weekends in Northern Michigan. The farmland and Lake Michigan provide constant inspiration to paint outside from life. When she is not painting you can find her walking her two Portuguese waterdogs, starting/finishing a renovation project, or in the kitchen creating meals for her family.
